The story

Every flower in Lumae holds a living word

Then the world went still, and the Sprigs were trapped inside the silence. The game opens like a storybook, and every word you find brings a little of Lumae back.

Play

Every word grows the garden

Drag across the letter wheel or tap the letters one by one. Each word you find fills the crossword, and a run of quick finds builds a streak with rising chimes and a little cheer from Pip.

  • 100 handmade levels across seven regions, each one checked so the wheel never spells the answer for you
  • Extra words fill the bonus jar, and every star you earn fills the star chest
  • Hints when you want them, plus a free Pip Cheer every few levels
  • Some words come alive: say WATER or GLOW and the scene answers. Find all nine families of living words

Rescue

Free a friend every five levels

Pip's friends are waiting inside crystal shells. Every fifth level is a rescue: solve it and the shell opens. Lumi, Poppy, Elder Moss, Rill, Cinder and Zeph each come home, and families of Sprigs follow them to the sanctuary.

  • Win a region's Rootkey and its landmark wakes up, from the Fountain of Beginnings to the Everroot Heart
  • An optional timed Rescue Rush for anyone who likes a challenge, with pause anytime
  • Cozy mode hides the timed missions and stops the Hush from growing

Sanctuary

A home that remembers you

Everyone you rescue moves into the sanctuary. Talk with them, share a berry or water their flowers, and each one reacts in their own way. Every Sprig has a secret favorite to discover, and the next day they remember what you did together.

  • The sanctuary follows your clock: morning dew, golden hour, fireflies at night
  • Plant moonpetals, sunbells and starcaps from the garden shop with coins you earn by playing
  • More garden plots open with every Rootkey

A new Daily puzzle, and no pressure

One puzzle a day, the same for everyone. Finish it for coins and a stamp. Seven stamps earn a treasure, collected on any seven days in any order, because missed days never reset anything.

  • The Lantern Trail: each Daily you finish opens the next of seven little visits with Pip and Lumi
  • Share your result as a spoiler-free card: your leaves, stars and hints, never the words
  • Practice the day's puzzle again as often as you like

Restore

Bring the color back to Lumae

Stars you earn can restore five landmarks in every region. Color creeps back around each one, and when a region is whole again the map brightens and a new decoration comes home with you.

How much does it cost?

Word Sprig is free to download. The first two regions (levels 1 to 30), the Daily Puzzle and the Lantern Trail, Word Rush and the sanctuary are free, always. One optional purchase continues the story through all seven regions and the finale, and it's yours forever. There are also optional decoration packs for the sanctuary. Nothing you can buy changes puzzles, coins or hints.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Everything works without a connection: the Journey, the Daily, Word Rush and the sanctuary. You only need a connection to buy something, and purchases go through Apple.

What if I miss a day?

Nothing happens. Daily stamps can be collected on any days, in any order, and they never reset. The Lantern Trail simply waits for your next Daily. Your Sprigs remember the kind things you did, never how long you were away.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 17 or later, including iPhone Duo, where it spreads across both pages like a book.

Which languages does it speak?

English at launch.

Is it good for kids?

Word Sprig is gentle and made for all ages. There are no ads and no links out of the game, and buying anything or emailing us first asks a grown-up to answer a quick question.

Is there anything to help me play comfortably?

Yes. Cozy mode turns off timers and stops the Hush from growing. There's an in-game Larger Text setting, support for Reduce Motion, and every timed round can be paused.

Can I share my Daily without spoiling it?

Yes. After the Daily, tap Share result. You get a little card with your date, a sprig with one leaf per word, your stars and hints, and never the letters or words.

What happens to my data?

Your progress stays on your iPhone. There's no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and we never sell anything about you. Purchases go through Apple and we never see your payment details. See the privacy policy.
